In order to help parents with their band fees the Band Boosters have made arragements to participate in the programs listed below.
We strongly encourage parents to take advantage of these opportunities.
Ingles provides the band a fundraising opportunity by allowing us to sell gift cards.
Five percent (5%) of each card sold is donated to the band.
Here is how it works:
- Buy $50 Ingles gift cards from the band.
- 2.5% goes into your student's account and 2.5% goes into the Band's general fund.
Reminders:
- Always get your cards from the band; do NOT renew the card at Ingles.
- Throw used cards away.
- Don't lose active cards, they are like cash and not replaceable.
That doesn't sound like much unless you are already buying from Ingles. If you are, then it's free money for you.
Encourage extended family, friends and co-workers to buy cards. This really adds up quickly.
Make checks for the full amount of the number of cards you want payable to NBBB (North Buncombe Band Boosters), and,
be sure to write your band student's name on all checks to insure proper credit.
Beth Fiore Kral is the Band Boosters' Ingles Gift Card Coordinator. Beth will try to keep cards available as best as possible for the three Gift Card Holders: Melanie Ballard, Nan Forgie, and Sheryl Snuffer. Each Ingles Gift Card Holder can be met with and/or contacted as noted below:
- Melanie Ballard plans to be at most practices, available before ballgames and at the school before and after competitions when possible. She will also be at the monthly Band Booster Meetings.
-
Sheryl Snuffer works at the Nationwide Insurance Office in Weaverville at the Rose's Plaza, M-F from 9:00AM-5:00PM. She doesn't mind people stopping by the office to pick up cards during that time, or they can call her at 776-4133 and arrangements can be made to meet.
-
Nan Forgie can be contacted at 645-4221, she works at NBHS from 8:00AM-4:00pm. Other times use her cell: 777-8945. It's too busy in the school office most of the time to come pick up cards, but she can make arrangements to meet people before or after school.
-
Beth Fiore Kral will also have cards available for purchase. Look for her near the end of most Tuesday and Thursday band practices at a table outside the band room. Or give a call, 645-0434 or 301-4138, to arrange a meeting. Email works as well: bethpt@mac.com (
).
UnitedScrip purchases millions of dollars worth of gift certificates (SCRIP) yearly from national vendors.
The Boosters purchase these same certificates from UnitedScrip at a discount.
We in turn offer this cards to our parents at face value.
You receive dollar for dollar the valve of cash for these items.
Example: $25 of a Gas Debit Card will purchase $25 of gas at any of its pumps, nationwide. Your student's account
will be credited the full amount of the discount.
Scrip order will be placed every other Wednesday, for next day delivery. During Marching Seasons the scrip cards will be available for pick-up on Thursday's Afterschool Practices. Contact Elizabeth Buchanan for more information

During the fall and spring semester, students will have the opportunity to take orders/sell fudge from Nutz About Fudge (company owned by a family of a NBHS student). This is a new opportunity for the Band Boosters and last season was one of the fundraisers that allowed students to apply a percentage of the profit to their band fees.
